As a show director, conceptual designer and video artist, Dirk Decloedt has gained widespread respect and acclaim. A master of visual storytelling, Dirk crafts unique productions that fuse live performance with cinematic image, sound architecture, and innovative technologies.
His work draws from a deep well of cultural insight and artistic inquiry, inviting audiences into emotionally rich and visually transformative worlds. With over three decades of experience, his award-winning visions consistently bridges the poetic with the technical—always in service of meaning, memory, and collective experience.
Dirk’s story began amidst the avant-garde energy of the Royal Academy of Fashion in Antwerp. There, his early experiments into scenography and visual direction laid the groundwork for a trajectory that would soon intersect with global entertainment.
A seminal chapter began early 2000 when Franco Dragone, the legendary Cirque du Soleil director, intrigued by Dirk’s work, commissioned him to lead the video design for A New Day, the groundbreaking Celine Dion residency in Las Vegas. Their creative alliance spanned nearly two decades and included productions such as Le Rêve (Las Vegas), The House of Dancing Water (Macau), The Han Show (Wuhan), Story of a Fort (Abu Dhabi) and La Perle (Dubai), among many others.
In addition, Decloedt’s visual and narrative sensibility has guided productions and concepts for major artists including Philippe Starck, Britney Spears, Sting and Criss Angel; theatrical collaborations with Broadway icons Cy Coleman and Larry Gelbart and Hollywood’s multiple acclaimed Alan and Marily Bergman.
His creative leadership has shaped national commemorations, architectural illuminations, and museum installations—from the cathedrals of Strasbourg to the monastic ruins of Orval reconnecting audiences with their deep historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage.
Having co-founded Drop The Spoon in 2015, a collective of visual artists whose exhibitions have successfully spanned four continents, Dirk continues to work independently today, focusing on projects that prioritise bold creativity, immersive storytelling and emotional depth.
Whether designing monumental performances in Las Vegas or directing poignant cultural commemorations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Dirk brings a rare artistic clarity that resonates across continents.
